Marijn van der Kloet

While I had always been expected to become an engineer, after high school, I ended up in the humanities. Now, with a B.A. in English Language & Culture and an M.A. in North American Studies, I have decided to turn my love for language into my profession.

To me, translation and editing represent a marriage between creativity and technique; between abstract and concrete. It is no surprise, then, that after my shift from maths, physics, and chemistry to language, I was drawn to these practices throughout my studies. My desire to construct both technically and creatively fueled a passion for grammar and style. My satisfaction comes from both pursuing the "perfect" text and knowing that such a thing does not exist.

My merit as a translator and editor is not just that I pursue the highest quality; it is the knowledge that allows me to specialize in certain types of texts. My background as an Americanist, IT enthusiast, and bodybuilder gives me a special edge when it comes to texts in the fields of American culture, IT, and the Fitness world. I also enjoy and have experience with Marketing texts, especially in those three fields.
